Safe On The Rock

My life has had some anxious times,
Confusion and turmoil,
Shackled by the weight of all,
The drudgery and toil,

I’ve drifted in the doldrums,
On life’s, calm but empty sea,
And tossed in tempest, wild with rage,
In winds of adversity,

I sold myself in slavery,
To the Prince of all that’s dark,
He took me in his chains of death,
Aboard his sinking ark.

My lifeline cut, midst certain death,
All I could do was pray,
When all was lost, I knew the cost,
Was more than I could pay,

I’ve been down twice; I’ve seen deaths face,
I struggled frantically,
When calm beset, my anxious soul,
A beacon on the sea.

A lighthouse on a distant rock,
It seemed to call me nigh,
Providing strength and courage I need,
And yes, the will to try.

Pulled drowning from the sea of life,
And all I did was pray,
Safe on the Rock, at last am I,
Yes, here I’ll always stay.

Thanks for the poem....
it's really good and flows...
and the rhymes don't seemed forced, like to do many times...
but on top of this, I think right now, i'm in the tempest part...and I need to find my lighthouse, my rock. I know God should be mine, but right now.....i'm not as spiritually connected as I want to be.

Anna,

It is so good to hear from you again. I hope you are getting along fine. Tempest tossed? We all are tempest tossed from time to time. No matter who we are or where we are in our walk, we encounter struggles at any age. Life is a struggle. But........... the grace and spirit of God provides strength to do right during times of chaos. He never puts on us any more than we can bare. You have seen the cartoons of the angel and the devil resting on opposite shoulders encouraging us to do good or bad? Well that is our internal struggle and we just need to listen to the good part of ourselves. A life time from your point in time seems like an eternity but Anna..... life is so very short and the decisions you make today will influence you for the rest of your life and it will go by so very quickly. Be strong. If you ever want to discuss anything you konw you can contact me by PM. Bless you Girl...

Thank you Anna for reading my poem and for taking the time to comment.

Peace Ron,

You've got a strong ear for rhythm. I like this poem/prayer/hymn. May all that you do and all that you are be ever built upon The Beloved's firm rock.

Abdur,
Some people will comment on a poem and you are grateful for their remarks. Your words go beyond those simple comments. Your words are a blessing to me. Thank you.

A powerful piece with conviction and passion.
Mind you, many times people write this kind of
material and it feels forced, something missing.

This piece nails it to the wall. Truth.

Simple as that against so much you write about
that at times seems so very complex.

Rolling Thunder,
Thank you for reading and responding to this poem. Perhaps it sound that way is because it is a few pages from my life. Many of the things I write are fantasy but this is a true life adventure. Again, thank you .
