We come to Christ and try to learn
All areas of His grave concern
It’s tough to make your way alone
Though all your sins have been a toned

We trust not family, nor friend
We’re scared of failing in the end
Our conscience cries out “you’re so guilty!”
And subjects us to unending cruelty

Sins forgiven once are forgiven forever
But our hearts still run hither and tither
“are you sure, God?” and you ask again
For forgiveness, knowing you pretend

To be the Christian you feel you should
So unsure of where you really stand
Why not ask God for a helping hand?
Just don’t expect a magic wand

You have to endure the discipline
And pain of growth and pain no end
Learn step by step and thought by thought
The ways of Christ cannot be bought

Subject yourself to his counseling
Don’t walk around as though in a sling
Free yourself to show his love
Love yourself to free blessings from above

So simple yet so very hard
To accept the one who was judged in the yard
Of Punctious Pilate’s home you see
And nailed upright upon a tree

He died for you, and yes!... for me!
Just to free us from all anxiety
So that we can love our God on high
And not worry about Satan drawing nigh

Just say “thank you Jesus”, it’s not that hard
Repentance shoots our spirits upward
Good pain results in all delight
When our spirits shine with holy light

The way of the Christian is forever learning
Loving, reminding, guiding and freeing
All growth comes from the bibles pages
It teaches that no one has to pay sin’s wages

Excellence is the result of caring more than others think is wise, risking more than others think is safe, dreaming more than others think is practical, and expecting more than others think is possible."

I love this Ms Nomad. Simple lessons of God's love unequivocally written for all to understand and lean on. I like the rhyme scheme and hope you share a title soon. Thank you for sharing.

Ms Nomad! This is a powerful piece, really testifying to the strength of your faith. I quoted the qbove because the concept of "enduring the discipline" is such a fresh one to me, also knowing some modernday churches are rather practicing of capitalism than christianity... But that's a different story entirely lol- Anyway - an enjoyable right with a nice rhythmic meter.

Thanks for the share

Jacquii.

“I do use powerful words to evoke emotion, but also to stimulate imagination. If one can 'see' the words dance before
his eyes - then he can likely feel, smell and even taste them as well. And I do thoroughly enjoy really tasty poems.
My poetry is an emotions-fest sprinkled with a little garlic salt, Mrs. Dash, fresh ginger and Tabasco sauce...
My poetry is like a piece of General Tso's chicken tossed in ghetto soul.” ---

Thanks! I had totally forgotten about this piece, and needed to read it right now.... such a tough road sometimes.

I need to title it too.
