Back to the Wall

Feeling torn apart
like only half a soul
it was good to know
our hearts combined
to make each other whole.

Circumstances changed
and we ended, moved on,
ran from the truth
never voiced
what went wrong.

New days and nights
spent all alone
crying tears of solitude,
sobs wrenched
out of skin and bone.

Time slowly moves on
until you find,
weeks have passed
faster than a blink,
you're no longer blind.

Finally you are
living in solitude
back to the wall,
slowly realizing

half a soul
is better
than none at all.

I had to give crazymamma a tissue! She was close to tears when she messaged me, lol.

I had to read it too and found it all Racheul claimed it to be. I can remember when my last husband and I split. It was under very bad circumstances and took me a long time to recover from it. I can remember the nights I spent silently crying because I didn't want my young daughter hearing it and worrying.

This poem brought back all the emotions of that time but also invoked memories of when I finally realized I could make it without him. Thank you, Mysty, for posting this excellent poem.

It was the last lines which really brought home this message!
half a soul
is better
than none at all. (Tis true, tis true!)

Dear Racheul and Gail..... I am so sorry I caused either of you any tears. I am also sorry about your marriage's demise Gail. How any man could leave the wonderful woman you are.... *shakes head* ... I just do not know. It seems to me .... some anyways that men are not all they used to be in years past. Men seem to be weaker and less able to deal than they used to be. It is us women that have proved time and time again.... we are stronger emotionally and in some ways physically. *sighs* but this is a pitiful excuse to treat us as though we deserve nothing.

I feel like this with my boyfriend being gone for so long. Time passes first slow then it becomes obsolete, half a soul is the perfect way to say it.

Only if I can sing it Zaac....... and yes I can sing.. a varied voice range. I am told I have a very sexy voice. Used to want to BE a singer....... a music star. My father told me "Honey you have a very good voice .... but in todays day and age you do not survive without a gimmick. Honey you don't have a gimmick so you will never make it." This was back in the late 70's .... so I forgot about that dream and moved onto something else. Yes I still sing......here at home with my HUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGEEEEEE collection of CD's. lol ..... Thanks for the lovely thought though Zaac.

And Jolie.... yes Half a soul....... an orange cut in half..... not whole ....... I know that feeling ooooooh so very well.
