I am the champion of the Negroes, the Indians
Hispanic and the Spanish
With a bit of aboriginal blood mixed in there… somewhere
See my hair?

I am the champion to the lonely
To the loved, to the hated;
To those who are insanely confused~ much about nothing
Just crazy-‘n’-sane.

I am the champion of the homeless, the nameless
The victims of identity theft that never owned a PC
But surrender installments of wishes and hopes
Hoping they’ll materialize.

I am the champion of the under-dog
That’s least likely- most susceptible to- beaten down
And still trusts in God to renew their strength
Every waking moment as they face hardship

I am the champion that smiles whole-heartedly
When my heart’s half-heartedly involved
When it could be, when it should be
After being blessed with life.

I am the champion to a sister and two brothers.
Funny, I’m the champion to my mother
Cause my dad failed as husband and father
To us all…

I am the champion who doesn’t mind crying
‘Cause my tears don’t run dry
As the laws of physics and gravity they defy.
Instead of running down they ascend into the sky

I am the champion some say visionary
Though I prefer missionary
While I fight the town with my tongue
As they scheme against me…

I am the champion here before you
That seeks only the truth to tell you
That speaks only what a heart can say
That seeks only to make you a champion too.

Not only is this uncommon, but to lay out in words not just your declarations, beliefs, and history, but your heart as well. This piece is a tribute to your heart and extremely well executed. Nick!! This is so beautiful and poignant and hopefull, and....I absolutely loved the different emotions and sensitivity that came through this work...

The entire poem was brilliant. Each and every line speaks volumes in love and championship of the downtrodden... and I especially love the stanza above...there is so much courage and faith packed in these words!! I really can't say enough about this...but I will shut up now! AWESOME WRITE!!!

Although all of what I would want to say has been said. I want to thank you for this, as it brought on a tear or two. I was deeply moved by this. It reads as an anthem of sorts. This is a classic and memorable. A quote that I came up with is this--->
