I have been degraded by society,
Cause of what I am.
I have to work at everything I do.
Cause I'm not taken seriously.
I have been labeled,
Cause they are too ignorant to know me.
I have to be stubborn,
Cause the nice game doesn't work for me.
I have to be cautious.
Cause nothing is a free ride.
So remember this, my friend.
I may be paled skinned,
But I have obstacles,
Just like you.

I read your poem and it clutches my heart because it is so intense while being negative. It makes me think of something I learned a long time ago. No one, absolutely no one..... has the power to hurt me, unless I let them hurt me. Therefore, if I let them hurt me, I am hurting myself and only those who love us and are loved by us can stir the emotions that allow us to be hurt. When I feel down and depressed I think of one or two people in my life that I have loved immensly and this frees my spirit.

Let me share another secret with you two... Mysticpoet and Ron. When we are hurt by others statements .... it is because we believe it about ourselves.. and that is what really hurts. If we know and love and accept ourself then NO ONE not ANY one has the power to hurt us worse than the way we can hurt ourselves. It took me 38 years to discover this truth. And I became a stronger person when I began to know myself. I can say I love myself now for all my best qualities ......and I also know all my faults and accept what I can and cannot change. Now no one can hurt me worse than my own thoughts. I hope this benefits the two of You.

Hi -- really like that poem.Think its very deep.
It expresses so well what we all can feel sometimes when life brings those sentiments of loneliness and lack of companionship.But it has hope in it.

hell yes..... this write reminded me of Lennon's style.....
standing with you on this....
everyone has a class... the ones who stay hidden are just waiting to be found out....
everyone has a mark on thier head.... it's the way of judgement, and theirs no way around it...
everyone feels the need to make the world pay in some way.....
if not the world... then why not the ones they love?
everyone feels the need to alienate themselves.... for fear of thier secret desire to... activate revenge....
the ones that take a brave stand and face the world without care.....
the ones who take critisism in the face and let it slide....
much love to those people from me...
cause i know how it is.... i'm fighting the same battle you see.....
in the footsteps of the homeless....
in the sorrows of the morose....
in the lack of confidence of a woman....
