The news today said I had to leave tomorrow.
Then to forget about yesterday.
Compose and select your form of termination.
So I prayed...however will I pay my bills?
What will I do if I become sick or very ill?
This devastation as crossed our nation and then to me.
On Capital Hill, CNN watching the fat man laugh.
The news papers reports and shows no photographs.
Mostly-cloudy with a 90% chance of rain.
Demanding umbrellas and rain coats, afforded only at Walmart.
When my credit card bounced...I didn't need it anyway.
I'd rather be alone and walk wet in the rain than to bend.
Just to have something close to nothing in the end.
9:15pm and my cable was just shut-off, I was watching Seinfeld"The Pothole."
I didn't need to anyway...gotta work tomorrow my last day.
No "Cheers" tonight.

That's right...you don't need any of it... or do you? lol! I loved this! Take it all away... I won't miss it! Curtis, thumbing your nose in the face of adversity always makes the reader feel good, and i think too in a way, it makes some people feel even better because they may not be in so bad a situation as what the poem suggests... which is just reality these days, isn't it?

Great job
Nomad

Oh man! Thank god it wasn't one of the various soup nazi episodes LOL - I couldn't help but to giggle at this. I've been there and it's always nice to look back and say, "Damn. I survived that madness!"

So yeah - might be stuck in a rut - but hopefully at the end of the day you still have your humor intact. It is laughter and smiles which soothes the soul, so I appreciate the humor in this piece. I'm only disappointed that you missed Cheers though

But the good thing about this is - when you get out of the rut - Cheers is always gonna be on somebody's channel

Jacquii.

his eyes - then he can likely feel, smell and even taste them as well. And I do thoroughly enjoy really tasty poems.
My poetry is an emotions-fest sprinkled with a little garlic salt, Mrs. Dash, fresh ginger and Tabasco sauce...
My poetry is like a piece of General Tso's chicken tossed in ghetto soul.” ---

I suppose one could fall into the realm "Learn Helplessness" once you take enough losses.
I became quickly amazed at the many thing I didn't need anyway Nomad lol!
Thanks for reading and your kind reply to this work.
PS. By the way you are right, these days are very hard for many people.
Hopefully we all have what we need!

Indeed Ms.Jacquiic it's all about keeping alittle humor about amid the stresses of our lives.
I am pleased you have enjoyed this work, it was fun to write as I have laugh with it!
But on some real talk....i'd better pay my $86 cable bill by April 4th or there will be no CNN or Cheers.. (soup nazi) lol
