Amphigory
AMPHIGORY poetry is usually nonsense verse of any amount of lines, especially in the case of nonsense parodies. Silliness and wit are the main goals of the amphigory poem; something that amuses whilst requiring the least bit of inside knowledge.
Example by Jacquii Cooke:
excerpt from Clarice's Holiday
Comment on ghetto stoop:
You who cower foul are coward fowl
like Thanksgiving turkey: stuffed indeed.
I look forward to the pecan pie,
yet by-and-by where is God?;
and to whom are you giving thanks anyway?
