Howdy hi YAWL.

There's an interesting conversation that went on in the Chatbox recently. I'm a little bit bored at the moment - So I took a screenshot

So this is intriguing to me as apparently my bit of jaded, cynical & facetious response was apparently misinterpreted and/or misunderstood.

As an FYI - This is a not-so-interesting email sent to me by a former JPiC Member. He was not happy with the caliber of work we have shared here within our JPiC database, so upon receiving one of our friendly reminder emails (we send out the occational email to inactive Members to let them know JPiC still exists...) - he responded with:

Subject: Re: JPiC Forum Notice

I think you have a nice, friendly site. My only problem is that the quality of the writing is for the most part not for me. It seems to me that most of the people who submit their work on your site are young people and, if that is the case, I would suggest that you do something to lift the quality of the work so that these young people don't think that any effusion is quality work. Ars longa vita brevis est.

Sincerely,

David
So - I as JPiC Administrator sort of found this email just a bit disconcerting. I thought it was a cheapshot at JPiC and was a derogatory statement against the very principle of why I created JPiC. So - In kind - I replied promptly with:

Quote:
The purpose of JPiC Forum is not to cowtow to hypocritical and big-head academia and the horridly pompous "writers" that is produced by it. The purpose of JPiC is for the Artiste; To inspire writers to indeed become better in their craft and confident in their appreciation of the artform poetry. I will cordially suggest that you become familiar with the online interactive you register an account at prior to wasting everyone's time. Your degrading commentary is not appreciated here.

I will delete your account.

Jacquii.
So - You think you're not "good enough" for JPiC Forum? Oh Pa! Read my statement and understand exactly why JPiC Forum For Writers aka Poetry in Color Forum exists in the first place.

Thank you AND as always = Happy posting!

Jacquii.

Well David .. deserves wot he got but yea I hav to say that sometimes a lot of good work gets ignored and thats maybe bcoz a lot of times the poems by the more well known poets on our forum get more veiws and thus get highlighted and pushed to the top of the reading list where as some good stuff gets pushed into the background ... I dont know how that can be solved but yea even though Antipody is incorrect to hav felt how he felt that could be a considerable misunderstanding on his part that could hav been explained away and forgotten ... I dont think it should hav been highlighted this way .... may make him feel a bit out of place out here ..we dont that do we ?

Well, SNAP!! I've been a member of several sites which supposedly encourage a 'better quality of writing' and feel new writers are discouraged because of the commentary imposed on their work.

Yes, work does disappear quickly from the front page of this forum and sometimes the more popular writers get a bit more exposure. That's when the moderators, such as myself, go back into the different forums and look for that which haven't received any comments. I've done that myself.

Have patience. As MsJ stated to the impatient one, it's been more than a bit slow here lately. I, myself, have been out of town, away from the internet and have spent the last week coughing my head off.

I gotta say, MsJ, that my writing has improved 100% since working almost solely with JPiC. I was a member of fanstory for 3 years and though my writing did improve some, the quality of my work improved exponentially when I stopped posting my work there and posted everything here. It's amazing what can happen when you point out the good part of someone's work and make suggestions to improve what isn't.

Oh well, can't please everyone so I guess we'll just have to please ourselves.

Hey MR SEXY

The thing about it - Dude came in the Chatbox and said "What's wrong with people...?" in a tone I didn't particularly care for. So I did explain the situation. Apparently Dude misunderstood what I was saying and says he "resigns" his membership or some such.... So I (in no mood for any extra drama) make this thread so that my meaning (in no uncertain terms) is understood for exactly what I meant.

And yes - we don't want to make new Members feel out of place - You know this - but yeah - No time for the drama.

So how you been doing JON? Gonna take a look at your blog post later when I get the opportunity and am not so lazy --- So glad to see you online lately.

And thanx for the comments E and MS GAIL

Jacquii.

Gail......Im saying exactly wot ure saying .. yu improved on ure writting coz people gave yu positive feedback .. well thats wot Antipody wants for himself too..
yea he got a bit Impatient and now that things are goin slow and that was an error on his part but to put up that conversation was makin an example outta him , Im sure Ms J didnt do it with this in mind but yea I thought since Ive been here for some time I could point out the Implications ... But I think Id better SNAP .... and yea Gail , yu please ureself , I hav no issues there .. but yea spare me the attitude Gail .....

Ms J ... I agree with yu 100% that Antipody was wrong ... well he was wrong and yu explained that to him and If yu ask me I would say End Of Story...
The whole put that up for everyone to see isnt right , wouldnt feel right for Antipody atleast .. I love yu mam and have nothing but respect for you and Im not here to offend or defend anyone ... I know u feel yu wanna put across the message that things are slow out here and everybody needs to hav patience .. but yea it could hav been tackled very differently.... take ure time and check my stuff , I hav all the patience in da world ...
