I´ve just seen this post, and I really got engaged with it. I began to read all the posts, and watched the videos. Today, it is the first time I see the candidates talking. It left me in tears to hear some remarks of John McCain´s Story. You see, I am not in the States at this point, but I am still an American Citizen with a valid opinion. I truly pray that the very best candidate wins. I have great respect for U.S. Veterans, who have served and fought for their country with a brave heart and paid their ultimate price for the cause of freedom. John McCain was in the Vietnam War. He is telling his story in the videos posted in here. However, I overheard from good sources that Obama will be the next President of the United States, and Ms. Hillary Clinton will be the Vicepresident. I don´t know what to say. I have no control over the world. I can only pray for the better, and the wiser person to win the election this year in 2008.
Kind Regards to all friends,
Starry.

Hey STARRY - I'm not an Obama fan at all really - but with Clinton as his running mate (I've heard it actually referred to as the Democratic Dream Team LOL) - I think it boosts his chances of actually winning the popular vote and could very well bring to fruition is current motif of "hope" and "change" and "unity"
Without Clinton - I don't think he stands a chance and at this very moment I wouldn't even consider a vote for him... Who knows - interesting turn-abouts are known to happen... Though I dare say with Clinton as his veep running mate - I'd actually consider a vote for them.
It's gonna be an interesting campaign season to be sure. And as the gas prices in the US have hit an all time average high of $4.00 per gallon and the current housing market at an all time low, there's been some interesting commentary been made on both candidates' part.
Thanks, Jacquii for taking the time to explain our 1st black pres for me, lol. I'd oftentimes heard him referred to as that but had do idea why, lol. Whatever floats your boat I guess.
Whether Obama or McCain wins, the country is still in sad shape and something must be done. It's not just the president who can make a difference. It's the person who sees something wrong and does something about it, the group who feeds the homeless.
What was that movie...Pay it Forward? The one where the kid does a favor for a homeless person, then tell him to pay it forward. I was recently at McDonald's with crazymamma5 and didn't have enough change to pay for what I wanted. The man in front of me, plucked down a one dollar bill and told me that would take care of it. I'm not sure when it will happen but I plan to pay that favor forward. Am I too naive in thinking this actually could make a difference? I certainly hope not.
This country is great for a reason, it's the people who have always made the difference, it's the people who will again.
Ms. Jacquii:
I am so glad that I have seen this great post in the General Chat Forum, which engages one´s attention to express valid opinions from U.S. Citizens. It is so important that people speak their heart the way they truly feel. Plus, actions are what they count in the end that will make a real difference for the people in the United States. I agree with Gail, in a sense that whether Obama or McCain may win to become the next U.S. President, the actions are the ones that would change the course of America. Actions speak louder than words. Actions speak for themselves, while empty words may vanish in the air.
If we -all united together- live an honest life of solid, spotless self-examples, we could contribute in making a big difference for keeping America, as the greatest Nation on Earth.
God bless America!!
Warm Regards to all friends from,
Starry.

I thought I would have something to say for MS GAIL's comment... I don't.
