Hello, and thank you for inviting me to join your poetry group. My name is Francine Skye and I started writing poety since I was a little girl, but never did it regularly. It was an occasional pass time. I began writing in earnest after I lost my husband "Jack E Blu" in the WTC. It took me over 9 months for the words to begin but once they did, they just kept tumbling out. The result was a self published poetry book called "Heart and Soul-A Poetic Journal Since 9/11. I have been writing ever since, whenever the words call to me, whereever I am, I just have to stop and write them down. I think my "poems" are not what I would call poetry, but just a release of my feelings from deep in my soul. They are intimately a part of me, and writing them is not what makes me feel "better." When I read them to people or they are read by someone else, and they tell me they have felt the same way too or that they can connect to what I am feeling, I don't feel so alone anymore.
Before I retired from teaching I had a poetry club for my students. Being a P. E. teacher, it was a very odd request for my administrators, but knowing I was motivated to share with the students, they agreed. During my tenure as the poetry club advisor, my students were able to share their intimate feelings, fears, emotions, conflicts, etc. with me and other peer writers as well. We published (within the school) 15 poetry books, and were on WNYE Public radio 4 times reading our poetry on the air. It was an accomplishment for us all.
Poetry is a communication of souls and ours were entwined forever. May you always find your way through poetry.

Dear Francine ,
to the community and thank you for sharing one of the most beautiful introductions I have ever seen. I look forward to reading your poetry, and reading your book. I too, am a teacher, of Science, and write. Writing in big or small doses, yes, can help us heal, express, and live a little longer. Poetry is a part of our lives, and a way of life for us, so I am very happy that you embraced your muse. If you ever need anything, I (and others) am / are only a PM away, or in the chatbox. We have already met via those two avenues. Please do enjoy the full realm of the site, and we are blessed to have you join us. My condolences as well.
Wow! Glad you joined us! You will find many, many great writers who share their words and thoughts freely. Lots of help in here and very friendly folk to talk to. Again, welcome!
