G'day B+D,

Good to catch up old mate. These days I live up at Bargara, just outside Bundaberg. My mum and one sister live at North Lakes and my other sister lives at Deception Bay.

My wife Chris and I will be heading off to Tamworth to perform in January and was chuffed to pick up four out of the six nominations in the Lyrics Only Section of the T.S.A. National Songwriting Awards in 2007.

Now I hate to sound a little ridiculous - but I read your intro (bravo for all the accomplishments btw) and I still don't know what a "Bush Poet" is... Or Bush Poetry for that matter... Does it insinuate that you write poetry about the US President?
okokok - bad joke! lol


Really though - I've yet to come across such a definitive. At anyrate we at JPiC do welcome all who wants to share in the beauty of the typed word. So again Welcome & Have fun posting in the forums

AND I'll be looking for the definition of Bush Poetry... Kinda made this welcome without reading the entire thread - so forgive me if I've asked a question that has already been answered

The terminology Bush Poet/Bush Poetry is a contemporary adoption and The Australian Bush Poetry Association [Established in 1994] defines Australian Bush Poetry as rhyming verse with regular meter and true rhyme about Australia, it people, places, things and way of life.

Its hope is to keep alive the tradition that was left to us by Banjo Paterson, Henry Lawson and Co. Though they themselves never referred to their work as bush poetry. They often referred to their works as galloping rhymes or bush ballads.
