I live in Alaska, have been here for 9 years. Born and raised in Utah and hit the road at age 20 moved to California and bounced from there to everystate working, trying to find myself i used to say, but running from myslef was more like it. Fianlly grew up at age 39 and learned what life is, this site is one i would never visit and would have missed a great experience so if i get dark at times its only ghosts. hope to get aroound to reading each and everyone of you all. Hi Cal,
I'm glad you decided to join. I remembered your saying you liked to write, but I never saw any writing from you. Poetry is good for our souls. I think, It gives us an outlet to express those parts of us that many people in the world can't relate to, or simply they just don't care enough to listen. They might just call us crazy, hence the Nietzsche quote below.
The main reason I joined is after I earned a degree in writing, I felt more insecure about writing than before I ever went to school. I use to write stories easily. Now there's so much pressure to perform, parts of my mind are shutting down, not wanting to fail I guess. But, I don't get that kind of criticism here. I tried several poetry sites before I stayed here.
I like the family this place seems to create. I learn so much from reading everyones poems, and I adore the diverse personalities behind them. I hope you stay and keep on writing.
