A 70'S STARRY STARRY NIGHT, by Paul Dwyer
A '70s Starry Starry Night
I want to sneak out at night and find the princess-true
Through the forest of stars that starry starry night
I stare at her when
All the evil passes us
I stare at her
Through all the city lights
And signs
I call her 'Annie'
And some nights I call her 'Natalie' or 'Jane' or 'Kim'
She ... is... a ... beautiful... thing (& when all else is not)
And her her arms are long and slender
Hair straight yet gives to the wind
In waves
And when one day she saw me looking at her I
approached her
Conscious
Consciously in the bright city light
Pride
Strength retreating
It was long that I meant to do this
And I spoke
"I like it"
I said, we said
All the little things that you say in little
Unwanted everyday
Conversation
When all is said and when all is done
I return to my room
... And try to
win, convince, persuade
All the simple, little
Arguments of the self
It has been long that I have meant to do this
