help me god to be brave
Sitting in a psychiatric ward nothing to do but write,
Will I ever give my mental illness a fight?
I just want to get a knife,
to cut away all the pain.
I don't know how to control my life,
I just want to be normal, and sane.
I want to be strong,
to deal with my illness on the next flight.
I don't want to wait to long,
to see the light.
I want things to get better now,
to destroy my past.
I need to take a bow,
when all the good things forever last.
So help me god to be brave,
so my life will be forever saved.

Wow, Jessie! You've written one powerful poem! I'm so proud...sniff...sniff...a chip off the old blockhead...I could cry!
Honey, I know and you know you can do it! You can fight it and you know I'm there for you but I can only help so far. You've got to figure out what's keeping you down and learn how to overcome!
I'm proud of you, for posting this very personal poem here and for continuing to fight the demons it took me so long to overcome. I'm here and you now have one huge community behind you as well.
By the way, you also have some aunties, MsJacquii, Kim (painteddiary), Sarah and many, many more!

Wow! What a very personal write. It takes courage to post something like this so very personal. It's a good step towards making things fabulously fine: talking it straight with honesty at the fore.
JESS - there is a wonderful Community of talented and caring Artistes here at JPiC and we know that there is power in poetry. It can be a balm of sorts that helps soothe away the pain when nothing else can begin to suffice. I say - continue to embrace poetry. Wish that I could offer some majestic answer to do away the pain that's so abundant in your poem - But I do think there is truly something to be said about one of JPiC's mottos: Here We Heal Wounds With Words.
