Honeysuckle Dream in Cynicism

Symphony:

Cicadas warm wings, other extremities
in 4/4 time; Mother Nature glimpses,
glances, gleans reverie.

January 54°
(midday childmade snowangels
in our minds of course: honeysuckle
dream in cynicism)
snowcream, chilidogs, corndogs,
hushpuppies and even wetter dreams
ebonied emory.

Southern living, corn-cob pipes
and comfort-filled peace. Stamped
grass blades, hoppers, crickets,
praying mantis.

Tennessee was beautiful
until Elvis died....

Yet - who'd believe it?

this was puzzling,
I like how it branched with ideas in-betweeen scenes,
to make an arrangement of quandries,
pecular indeed, but also wonderous

Twas like a quick flash dance of visuals...from my childhood. I liked the way this work pounced upon one thought and landed upon another...kinda like my mind works! Beautiful words for the memory to relaunch...ahhhh. Thank you!
Ps....Elvis NEVER died...it's a conspiracy, don't you know that?

Dear Ms Jacquii,

I love the symbolism of the cicada. The cicada males (to be to scientifically correct, lol) are a philharmonic symphony indeed when en masse. I also love the symbol of the 4/4 score. Ya know the cicada stays underground for 17 years, and the nature metaphors to me plays a part in my mind thinking of change, nature changing. That second stanza demands respect as it ignites the poetic jute box. I love the third stanza as you refer to the cicada cousins, lol, if you will. Ain't nothin better than a corn-cob pipe, and Elvis lives damn it!!!!!! LOL!!!!! Loved it Ms Jacquii!!!!

i like the way you throw words that seem disconnected and let the reader sit there trying to figure it out and when they get to the end of the poem it makes sense but it wasnt they that figured out the piece...it was the piece that figured out them and let them in on the secret. one point of contention....didnt like elvis anyway

Dear Ms Jacquii,

You have kept me in suspense long enough about this fantabulous write! I think it is time for us to know the inspiration for, and catalyst behind this little wonder. LOL Another excellent rating!
