If I Had A Chicken
If I had a chicken
Would it look toward the sky?
All the while thinking
Why the hell can I not fly?
If I had a chicken
Would it lay a thousand eggs?
All the while wishing
That it had two faster legs.
If I had a chicken
Would it live inside a coop?
All the while thinking
How it could escape the group.
If I had a chicken
I might love it like a pet,
But it’s much more likely
It would run without its head.

Again, Adam you come up with the questions I had not thought to ask or even to ponder, lol. If I had a chicken...hmm...did you happen to read my animotion poem about a rooster? Must've been your inspiration I'm sure, lol. Ok, I'm just kidding, but I really loved this little silly poem.
I did find a little something:
It would run without its head. (If you're wondering what's changed, check out the original poem and you'll see it.)

Thanks Gail, You're quite right I saw it myself on a second read through.
I'll go and have look at the poem you mentioned right now.

Ha! I think perhaps you read my Why'd the chicken cross the road post in Lots of Humor --- great inspiration of course
I liked this little ditty too - it's good to read light verse and humorous verse along with the uninhibitedly structured/syllabic/"stuffy" verse - makes for a diverse sharing of all poetry's greatest attributes.
