The Mirror Behind This Face

Clouds and tinfoil in my mind
struck down by shock and fear
tempered enough by experience
to make it terrifying
Statues of words
lattices built in thought
crocheting the most subtle
of armor
as if to bid a cynical smile
to custom
Trying to hold on to 3 dimensions
til i find a handle on the 4th
I smile remembering...knowing
that the grim reaper is just
a child in halloween wear
Pushing the door
of the jackals kitchen
Riding on the light
God passes on the evidence
of promises burned in blood
On the table of the Master
Laid bare to be rebuilt
Shocked into natural anesthesia
too smart to buy the guilt
Transfuse the light, shake the mountain
Revive the heart, if not restore
Shapes and logic are merely pundits gone
In the mirror behind my face.
