Poetry in Flight
Poetry in Flight
temptation’s hand maps out my fate
new worlds I seek to satiate
my ever-growing mind's desire
a constant fuel that feeds the fire
~
I take the world inside of me
and convert it so that you can see
everything that ever was dreamt
joining the flow with all was ever wept
~
no ersatz character to shadow my depth
once sotto voce, now a gravitas vignette
shards of menagerie mirrors reflect
the real me, no mask, and not perfect
~
contemplative visions arise
flash of brilliance before my eyes
my feet are lifted from the earth
hovering I pass through the firth
~
and from the heights I do scribe
the taste of all the emotions I imbibe
passing through that which was never past
going straight to the heart of what will last
~
I’m aloft, amplifying my rhythmical wings
weaving tapestries of linguistic strings
heart pumps prisms of lyrical potpourri
painting words in brilliant lapis lazuli
~
a song in time, as words doth rhyme
along the lines, webs intertwine
my flight, caught tight, silken delight
start of my plight, this dreamer’s fight
~
soaring through the seamless azure sky
touching the highest periphery never asking why
I live within the arms of a pure and faultless love
holding in my hand for all a simple snow white turtle dove
~
snapshots of my life, ethereal and diamond-esque
gossamer memories fill my heart's treasure chest
revealed on aged parchment, my soul's layers unfold
one page at a time, a glorious plight is told

I felt the power of this while it was in process. Hard to describe...so different from writing alone...your close was brilliant Kim. I think this will be around for a while.

Dear Kit (and Scott),
Thank you so much. I agree. Scott delivered a powerful first stanza and the kinetic energy continued to run. Thank you for the opportunity to "poeticise" with you both...lol...this is stunning.
