Early morning
Before sunrise
Walk the flight deck
With sleepy eyes

Good morning Kitty Hawk
Air Boss on the 1MC
Let’s start the FOD walk
For this lovely morning

Straggling figures
Approach the bow
Commence the rigors
Of flight Ops now

Eyes on the deck
Fod King shouts
Hands out of pockets
Let’s move it out

Scour the flattop
For any debris
Shout and stop
For any you see

Don full flight gear
Comes again commands
Full flight ops to prepare
A 24 hour strict demands

Pre flight checks
The Viking is ready
Remove the chocks
Taxi to the Cats waiting


Run the wipeout
Check all spots
Signal the Shooter now
Brace for the shot

Scream the turbines
Blast of heat
Viking’s yearning
For its release…




Hello friends some Navy terms explained from my latest poem.

Flight Ops - flight operations on a aircraft carrier
FOD - Foreign Object Debris
FOD King - Squadron in charge of fod operations for that day.
IMC - Main communications speaker
Air Boss - Officer in charge of all flight deck activity
Shooter - Officer in charge of launch on the cats
Cats - Catapults
Wipeout - Prior to launch pilot proceeds to move all flight
control surfaces for verification by trouble shooters
systems are functioning properly
