just before you walked towards me.
Can you make out
the sweep of doubt, the future
dangley and afraid; the
wonder of love mistrusted
leaping from kitchen, cat
to chair where I sit
unmoving, unchanging.

You know, this starts out like a country song...then it meanders into all those unsettling feelings when encountering someone you're attracted to.

these lines below are the actual focal point of the poem for me...I love the way you describe the future...it certainly is dangley and afraid for most of us. I love it!

Nice clean and simple lines yet not so simple ....... those are pretty chaotic emotions. Never knowing ..or trusting in the moment.
