Plot Summary:

• Konrad, a handsome country boy in post-war Austria, charms his way into a butler position at the castle of a widowed countess that lost her fortune. Before long the opportunistic boy is running the entire household.

I saw this movie early yesterday afternoon and I enjoyed it immensely. They just don't make film like they used to do... And this one --- featuring sophistocated act-stylings of the talented and charming Angela Lansbury & the deliciously delirious moxie of Michael York --- is no exception.

The movie is set to a beautiful Austrian background. There is a wonderful Austrian castle that takes a prominent roll in the movie's plot. Just a bit of background...

Konrad (played by Michael York) seeks to establish himself as a Foot-Servant in Countess von Ornstein's residence... In the process he basically sets about being the quintessential "boy about town" -- only he seems to be in and out of everyone's bedroom, including the Countess' lovely brown-haired, naive & younger soon. A "foot" servant indeed...

The film is a beauty. Angela Lansbury is brilliant as the savant & slightly pompous Head of Household... Michael York is wonderful in his roll as savagely temptatious scandal.

Something For Everyone is deliciously dark, cynical & witty. It culminates in what I'd describe as one of the most twisted endings of any film I've perchance to see. And for a film shot in 1970 - it's a wonderful tribute to what film should be: Entertaining, Attention Grabbing & Plot Rich.
