Imogene Heap - Hide And Seek
I was browsin YouTube just moments ago looking for some Joshua Redman performances and happened onto this beautiful song called Hide & Seek by Imogene Heap. The entire performance is by vocoder which is a sound effect that can make a human voice sound synthetic.
I found this performance almost spiritual because of its beauty and just want to share with YAWL - Hope you enjoy it
Where are we? What the hell is going on?
The dust has only just begun to fall,
Crop circles in the carpet, sinking, feeling.
Spin me round again and rub my eyes.
This can't be happening.
When busy streets a mess with people
would stop to hold their heads heavy.
Hide and seek.
Trains and sewing machines.
All those years they were here first.
Oily marks appear on walls
Where pleasure moments hung before.
The takeover, the sweeping insensitivity of this
still life.
Hide and seek.
Trains and sewing machines. (Oh, you won't catch me around here)
Blood and tears,
They were here first.
Mmm, what you say?
Mm, that you only meant well? Well, of course you did.
Mmm, what you say?
Mm, that it's all for the best? Ah of course it is.
Mmm, what you say?
Mm, that it's just what we need? And you decided this.
Mmm what you say?
What did she say?
Ransom notes keep falling out your mouth.
Mid-sweet talk, newspaper word cut-outs.
Speak no feeling, no I don't believe you.
You don't care a bit. You don't care a bit.
Ransom notes keep falling out your mouth.
Mid-sweet talk, newspaper word cut-outs.
Speak no feeling, no I don't believe you.
You don't care a bit. You don't care a bit.
You don't care a bit.
You don't care a bit.
You don't care a bit.
You don't care a bit.
You don't care a bit.
I LOVE this song! It's real popular when it comes to choosing songs for choreographies, you know. Half of the dancers over here have used it or another song from Imogen Heap at least once. I for one haven't yet got my chance, though. But anyway, a very lovely song which I'm trying to find on CD...
Hey ME! Longtime no see - Hope things are wonderful with you!
Thanx for posting - I have simply fallen in love with this song. It just so very beautiful and so awesomely poetic. Really - it's a poem vocalized through song. I love it love it love it so much I put it on my profile and on JPiC MySpace
I can only imagine a dance performance - Depending on the choreographer - I'd say the interpretation has the potential to be something awesomely fabulous. If ever you do dance and happen to tape the performance - would love for you to post it on JPiC
Long time no see, exactly! My summer's been real busy. I might have something on tape already, though, being shot by my grandpa, it might take years to have it on dvd, heh. My dad will probably not let me put it anywhere, but I'll see what I can do!
Well.... There are people who sing songs and then there are people who's song is music!
This is an example of the latter which I happen to LOVE very much - it's so beautiful.
Truthfully speaking - this music is like its own symphony - the lyrics are simply genius, rendering the audience almost speechless with the audacity of its harmony, the melody is angelic, a spiritual experience really. I think I'm a better person for having heard this one.
I can see where choreographers would love this song and its music. I listened to the song and read the words too. Crop circles in the carpet? Trains and sewing machines? Two phrases which I never would have thought of. Kewl!
Yeah - I think this song is stunning - because it is literally a poem being sang in the most intimate of settings: acapella --- I'm simply in love with this song. Glad you like it too BIG SIS
