Jill Scott - The Real Thing

Jill Scott - the Poetess Extraordinaire turned R&B sensational - has released a new album appropriately entitled "The Real Thing" --- I think 1st of all the timing is so right for the release of this album, especially considering she has a starring role in Tyler Perry's new film "Why Did I Get Married" --- I happened to see the film as well = Very nice, funny to the core actually - but speaks on a subject matter not entirely conquered within the Urban "Fiction" genre...
At anyrate - moving on..... Her album is AWESOME! It's nice to see R&B take hold of its own roots by introducing acoustics again, rather than the dull droll of electronic beat mixes...
Ms Scott covers a couple of songs from her previous albums, only the renditions are LIVE... Ain't nothing like a live band (acoustically fabulous) inciting the fans...
The Real Thing is an absolute gem - Each and ever track on the disc is meticulously performed - I'd recommend the album to anyone! The reason: There's a little something for EVERYONE on this CD... The diversity of this album just makes it all the better in my opinion. There's even a Live From Paris track featuring a guitar solo which evokes fond rememberances of Jimmy Hendrix... And we KNOW there's some many Hendrix fans out there! The track I sample below for your listening pleasure is entitled Celibacy Blues

tehehehe
My suggestion = Get the album as quick as you can AND enjoy the jam session, the poetry readings, and the good ole fashioned smooth sounds of acoustic soul! AND if you wanna hear the title track The Real Thing - simply browse to JPiC's MySpace Page
HERE. I was so very impressed with the tune - just had to have it introduce the principle that JPiC stands for: The Real Thing
Jacquii.
