Well, if not, then how has he remained one of the most often remade play authors?
I did see a lovely rendition of "Midsummer Night's Dream," that was to die for, starring Michelle Pheiffer as a fairy who actually looked like one thanks to the miracle of animation. Also, of course, Romeo and Juliet is understandable. It's actually the only Shakesperian play that I've every totally understood. It was a delight.
Now I feel like I'm missing something in not understanding his stuff. I hate missing things. Besides, it makes me stupid to not recognize the theme and point.
Have you seen/read anything of his that you think a person like me could understand? I guess understand isn't the right term, because I got the story in Hamlet. But not to the point I could really enjoy it.

I dare say because most enjoy the D-R-A-M-A of his works - I do as well actually - but to READ it is a totally different thing - That's what I mean by Shakespeare being more of a Bard than Poet, as when the words are acted out and are actually meant for dramatic interpretation - it's quite a bit interesting, whereas actually sitting or lying down to read the text... It makes for tedious reading IMO.

Yes, the acting brings more meaning to the difficult conglomeration of words for sure. Well, he was actually writing plays for a good share of his life -- to think of him doing that all in rhyme! No wonder we can't understand it. I can't even understand some of my rhyme.
Thanks for the little conversation.
