Call For Submissions #6 - Haiku Collection
Call For Submissions for our sister-site Poetry-Defined.com. The form
HAIKU is a Japanese form that all should be familiar with. It's a rather simplistic form, short in length, but generally packs a sophistocatedly poignant punch. This call is a little different than the others, as the haiku form consists of only 3 lines - This Call For Submissions will require the Poet to submit a mini-collection of related haiku between 12 and 24 lines in length! A sample haiku collection can be seen in my post
Passion Murmurs .
**NOTE** Each haiku in your haiku collection should relate (aka same topic, theme, etc...) as if one poem.
The call for Haiku Collection closes July 30, 2007 . Please refer to the NEW
Poetic Type Published Rules & Guidelines for more info on the rules and guidelines for submitting poetry.
Below is the webpage your Haiku poem will be associated with if and when chosen for inclusion. Please refer to the description and definitive example below for more information about the form HAIKU.
I'm looking forward to your Haiku Collections - So Happy posting!
Jacquii.

heres my three haikus I made this morning
Tide
the tide rolls ahead,
like a magic tongue feeling,
leaving life swallowed.
Winters Sister
snow rolls in, up, below,
a soft falling, a dark call,
winter's sister you are named.
Giving Rise
A caw not a coo,
gliding down with vision set,
giving rise to prey.

Here are my haiku's
Spring
The snow has melted
The street is full of children
Who now dream of spring.
Autumn
Walk in golden sun
Come now autumn leaves fallen
The summer has gone
Scream
I voice silent scream
A collection of my fears
Ever flows through me

Glass Harp
Hands aged like fine wine
Strum goblets with moist fingers
Celestial ice chimes.
Spider Waltz
Geometric pearls
Woven acrobatic silk
Such graceful deceit.
Sahara Sunset
Sienna glazed rays
African moon painted breath
Plays anthem on clouds.
Dreamin'
Picking star flowers
from a celesial garden
lit by the Moon's smile

They have been previously seen, but I love these Haikus
City
The cacophony-
crashing, screeching, screaming
echoes in the alley.
Native
Quiet despairing
flows into the empty sky
One single wail.
Fall
Blossom releases
tumbles, careens down the cliff
Into the abyss.

She Sees What Others Cannot
She Sees What Others Cannot
She rises ready
with sunshine meeting her gaze
breathing in her life
pans the horizon
taking in the elements
keeps each a secret
misty meadows peek
to see eyes that are gleaning
the Day's mystery
absorbed in the glint
her promises and wishes
unveil nature’s needs
overflowing streams
speak softly where she has been
gathering bouquets
carried into dusk
songs that fill the Milky Way’s
curiosity

So, i decided to actually make a Haiku Collection :]
It has a double meaning....I hope you find it :]
Echoes of Life
Emerging slowly,
masquerading in the light
that shines though the leaves.
Blossom releases
tumbles, careens down the cliff
Into the abyss.
Swift, raging river
carves its way though the Canyon
Starts with one small stream.
Wind howls though the night
causing trees to swiftly bend
If only still unseen.
Dying sunlight of
explosions of rich colors
In the twilight sky.

Open Up a Book
Open up a book
Eyes taking in nourishment
Mind digesting words
New thoughts feed the brain
With each chapter that is read
Knowledge increases
New viewpoints created
Experience on the rise
Ideas flow freely
Inserting yourself
Allowing envelopment
As adventures pass
Learning new pathways
Discovered on the journey
Enlightenment comes
Soul grows through wisdom
Gained by ones comprehension

Rain of the Muse
Writer’s block again
Cannot find the words to write
As I search my mind
Across the empty plain
That is now my barren brain
No inspiration
The sun beating down
Drying up my oasis
Where words once did flow
It’s the muse I seek
To end this poetic drought
Rain ideas on me
As water soaks in
Filling the cracks in my head
I rejuvenate
Ink spills from the pen
Filling up lines on the page
Writer’s block is drowned

Night Feeding
As sun goes down
Giving way to evenings moon
Vampire rises
From his daylight sleep
The hunger awakens him
As the hunt begins
Observing humans
His desire to feed grows
Unsuspecting prey
Standing in shadows
Blending in with the darkness
Time to make his move
Scent of a female
Floating his way in the breeze
Her heart beating strong
She is his dinner
Unknown to her as of yet
Tonight is her last
As his eyes meet hers
Frozen in his gaze she stops
Caught up in the trance
Head tilted slightly
As bared fangs open the vein
Blood quenches his thirst
