Biography: Jacquii Cooke is a 32 year old Black Poet from Oak Ridge, Tennessee. As Webmistress of Poetry in Color Forum, she is devoted to the more abstract styles, especially those with a strong feminine voice that center around the topic of redemption and righting the wrongs of past transgressions.

Goodday EVERYONE - I hope you ALL enjoyed your Thanksgiving holiday and ate well, drank well & continue to be merry, for it is that time of the year again.... Time for the Design The JPiC Holiday Card Contest!

The contest rules and submissions guidelines will remain the same as last years contest. Of course the winning entry (as voted on by the Community) will be put into the official JPiC Holiday card which will be sent to all Registered JPiC Members and even posted on sites around the internet! Of course the winning entry will be accredited, acknowledged and copyrighted to the contest winner.

One thing has changed for this years contest. The winner will also receive a $25 gift certificate good towards merchandise from JPiC Sponsor Amazon.com! OK - now on to the rules and such....


CONTEST RULES:
  1. Each Member may submit UP TO TWO (2) poems with either of the following seasonal motif:
    • Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanzah, or any "seasonal" holiday theme.
    • Snow and/or the winter season nature inspired subject.
    • Happy Holiday and/or New Year celebration.
    • Hope for world peace.
  2. The poem should be no more than 6 lines and should easily fit on an electronic greeting card. (PLEASE TITLE YOUR POEM!)
  3. Each submitted poem should be the authors' original creation. (Copyright will be attributed to the winning submission.)
  4. All poem entries should be posted in this thread!
NOTE: To ward off any conflict of interest, Members of the JPiC Moderating Team will not participate in the Contest.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION:

The contest closes on December 19, 2007. That means you will have 26 days from the posting of this thread to enter your submissions for the Design The "Official" 2007 JPiC Holiday Card Contest. If anyone contradicts my math - I'm suing

PRIZE/REWARD:

On the 20th of December - I will post a poll (all votes will be anonymous) with the title of each submitted poem. The poll will be open for 3 days. The most-voted poem will have the honor of going on the Official 2007 JPiC Holiday Card!

At the close of the poll - I will lazily, yet eloquently post the winning poem into an eletronic greeting card, which will be sent to all registered Members of JPiC Forum For Writers and posted on JPiC-friendly websites all over the internet.

The $25 Amazon.com gift certificate will be mailed prior to Jan. 1, 2008 - depending on how lazy I am and/or what type of mood I am in.

This poem comes from memories of Christmas when I was a little boy and thats a long story. I hope I did this correctly poem is six lines

Christmas Joys

Christmas is filled with joy, and happiness
And the very best of all is contemplating
The memories of those close to us,
~
At Christmas we think of family and friends
Affectionately, realizing how blessed
We are to have them in our lives

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
