Biography: Jacquii Cooke is a 32 year old Black Poet from Oak Ridge, Tennessee. As Webmistress of Poetry in Color Forum, she is devoted to the more abstract styles, especially those with a strong feminine voice that center around the topic of redemption and righting the wrongs of past transgressions.

The KWG Essay Contest.

This year’s topic is music. Have you ever been a groupie? Is there a song you got pregnant to? Can one be a fan of the Who and Led Zeppelin at the same time? The essay can be memoir, critique, polemic, narrative, or history. It just has to be true. Preference is for submissions with narrow subject matter.

Fee: $10 for KWG members; $15 for nonmembers.

Specific Guidelines:
1. Entry consists of one typed, double-spaced nonfiction essay of no more than 2,000 words.
2. Multiple submissions O.K. See General Guidelines

Deadline: February 28.

Hey THOMA - I'm not quite sure what the prize is... Usually for paid contests there is a handsome reward - all I saw on KWG website is $2000 in prizes for poetry, essays & stories...
