JPiC Forum Has Its Spotlight On [....] |
Featured Artist: Therese Young-Westby BelisleWe're proud to feature the writing of longtime JPiC member & forum Moderator Therese Young-Westby Belisle. Known throughout the JPiC Community as nomadicrhymer, Ms. Belisle hails from the small tropical country of Belize. Her writing career began with short stories in high school, which in turn blossomed to a more mature, intricate poetry styling. And though her love of the craft took a brief hiatus, as she married and raised a family, Therese never lost the sense of completeness poetry has brought to her life.
Therese's main interest lies in Spoken Word poetry. "It allows me to follow a random train of thought to wherever it leads me," she says speaking of her own work & writing process. "Although I am in love with traditional rhyming poetry, when I write it just takes on a life of its own. The rhyming goes out the window. At the start of a piece I am never sure where it will end up."
Therese presently resides in Claremont, CA where she works as an Executive Assistant in charge of IT and Marketing. As a very busy single mom she still finds time to make the occasional trip to Belize for visiting family and friends. Although she is not able to write as much as she would like now-a-days, she still serves the JPiC Community as constant inspiration, a writer to respect and emulate. She's dedicated to reading others' poetry and staying in tune with the written word.
Stay tuned because Ms. Belisle is planning a future, self-published compilation of her best writing. We at JPiC feel that if this piece "I Feel The Wind" is any indication, the collection is sure to be an absolute fabulous read, for as Ms. Belisle says, "Appreciation is in the ear of the reader." This reader (for one) finds a compelling voice which needs to be read. Find more of Therese's writing in the forums.
I Feel The WindOriginal Poetry By Therese Young-Westby Belisle
I feel the wind
When I dance
Musical tendencies
Gather and ride
The invisible swirl
Of softness
Teasing me
As I turn and twist
Hands reaching
Taunting
Untouchable
Whispers...She glances
Off my cheek
Elusive to my eye
Erotic...Soothing
I glance around as
I throw a hip...
At the leaves
Who love her kiss
They too await
Her soft embrace
My feet slide and lift
Taking steps best
Left to thought alone
No choreographed
Enchantments
Capricious and impulsive
She understands
Perfidy of movement
Disloyalty to sound
Whimsy governs her fancy
She is Grand Master
Of her fate
When temptation strikes
Interlocking mists of clouds
Feel her soft slinkiness sliding
Along their shapes
As she rearranges her
Easel...arms flowing fiercely
Through trees and waves
Blindfolding the sun
Calling to the rain to bathe her
Thunder...sing to her!
Testing the heavens with her will
Wasting no motion
Frugality is not her style
Abundant joy fiercely bursts
As she arrives center stage
Stately Sequoias bow
In adulation...smiling at the Spruce
Fighting to stay upright
When I dance she knows
Warm and wild
Or soft and new
I feel the wind
When I dance.

JPiC Forum For Writers Is Consistently Voted Fabulous |
Writer's Digest 101 Best WebsitesJPiC earned its first coveted spot on the prestigious Writers Digest Best Websites for Writers list in 2008. We were chosen again for placement in the 2009, 2010 & 2011 lists for consistently “providing such great services to the writing community.” We share this award with our Members for help in creating what is easily one of the best communites for writers on the web. JPiCans do it in color and we do it well!
vBulletin.org Board of the MonthCongratulations are in order. JPiC Forum has won the first vBulletin.org BotM competition for 2011! We are super-excited that our new forum design has met the approval of fellow board Administrators. The voting was extremely close, and as such, it's an honor in itself for JPiC to have been included in such esteemed company. But we took home the blue ribbon, having edged out the competition by 2 votes. Our new site design -- quite fondly dubbed JPiC 3.0 -- has been sculpted by JPiC Forum Webmistress & graphic designer, Jacquii Cooke.
