Lighthouse Memories

The moonlight shines through the tops of trees casting erie shadows on the lighthouse as the beacon searches out into the darkness.
The luminous moonbeams brightens the lavender lilacs throwing their shadows on the walls of the lighthouse keeper's cabin walls. Through the evening it is clearly heard, as if through enchanted seas, Footsteps quietly passing as though a spirit it taking its turn on the midnight watch and the sounds seen to be an infinite distance away. In another world and another time. The incandescent moonlight is turning the purple lilacs a pale blue and as the moonlight leaves the fountain worn and old, And as the boughs of elms grow green. Our footsteps echo upon the gleaming cobblestones, The fallen leaves are stirred into a pile of muted tones.

The mist start to rise up from the river to dim the stars, The river leading to the ocean pass the lighthouse is black and cold and flows swiftly into the darkened waters. Some where in the distance we cab head the sounds of music playing so let us dance to echos of the horns, and of the beating of cymbals and drums; Amongst the strew the glimmering floor covered with rose petals. Remembering, while the rich music yawns and plays softly throughout the night, then slowly the silence comes. Memories yes the memories, that we loved each other long ago. We moved with the cool breeze to the music's ebb and flow. You closed your eyes, and smiled, and let me lead you. Oh how young we were! Your hair a silky lustrous blonde which upon the slight breeze, seemed to stir. As we danced close her head upon my shoulder. The silent moonlight bringing back those wonderful memories.

Now the mist is raising up from the rain steeped earth, and clings Ghostly with lighthouse among drenched lilac trees. We walked in silence and seen how the beacon flings our shadows upon the rocky cliff side as the music's mournful timbre die out behind us. There a silence is softly cast over our thoughts as we walk slowly, quietly then pause briefly, we talk, of trivial things; of life and death, Time, and forgetfulness, and truth; Lilacs and togetherness and youth. You laughed, then I hear a softly taken breath, You close your eyes and turn away your head at something I’ve said or some thought that flew too deep, And striking a bad memory. Tonight you will remember it as you fall asleep, Your dream will suddenly blossom with sharp delight, Goodnight! I say to you as I give you a soft kiss at your door. In the cool damp night the leaves of the lilac dip and sway; The purple spikes of blooms, Nod their sweet approval upon us, lifting again, Your moonlit face turns and leaves, as silence descends, I am left standing in the moonlight under the dripping dew from eaves, and jeweled points of leaves of the lilac tree.
