The Crossing of the Soul
The Crossing of the Soul
Passages to Canaan with apt offers from the Father,
compose internal persuasions written by the Spirit.
Narrow, the Way, the Truth, and the Light: Essence of the Son.
Eyes to see, ears to hear, given to a man,
while Lucifer’s charm of Egypt’s wares beguile the soul,
shading visions divine with enticements for the flesh.
Tangled in Gardens with the weakness of the flesh,
eyes toward heaven, will, yielded to the Father.
The Promised Land keeps mulling in the soul,
Soothing balm predestined by the Spirit,
For those who pursue God’s special Man,
The Exemplar Himself: the Only Begotten Son.
Passion’s forceful tow to mirror workings of the Son
Inside a decaying and fleeting tent branded as the flesh.
Peculiarity obvious to those who discover the man,
whose footsteps are measured in eternity by the Father,
Left or right at the forks, directed by the Spirit,
continual proddings to crossover the Jordan of the soul.
His Holy Thoughts, enthusiasm exhaled into the soul
signaling the spirit with reminders of His Son.
Training those who listen with stirrings by the Spirit,
buffeting the trickery and treachery of the flesh,
tugging gently the graceful Robe of the Father,
for wisdom excelling the foolishness of man.
Arch Angels, Holy Watchers, and witnesses of man
study mortal plans on stage within the soul.
Choirs singing Hallelujah to the Father,
falling down to worship the Alpha and Omega: the Son,
unnoticed by captives held earthbound in the flesh,
who resist convictions descending from the Spirit.
Ears that hear, eyes that see, the prophesies of the Spirit,
dreams and visions, hope and faith, moving man,
hoisting him above the Devil, the world and the flesh.
Enlightens and encourages the weary, broken soul,
renaissance from lifeless deeds with power from the Son,
And Seeing all, the Eternal Righteous Eyes of the Father.
Words spoken from the Spirit, cleanse bruises of the soul,
Heavy burdens lifted off a man, carried simply by the Son,
Garments of the flesh exchanged for garments of the Father.

I love the "Sestina" style. I tried to write one like this a while back but couldn't get it all together. I stashed it away for a while and will get to it again when I can concentrate more on it.
AWESOOME write Jer.
Thanks for sharing this style of writing, and the message was informative for readers as well.

Jerry! This was beautifully crafted and depicts your mastery of word smithing, especially when one is passionate of the subject as you are with this subject. You have left me completely enchanted in this Holy Scribe. The messages are clear and the words are carefully selected to showcase such admiration, inspiration, passion, sharing. I will also as Sally try to go back and finish my attempt to scribe using this poetic form. Simply exquisite Jerry. Made me kind of misty, as I was deeply moved, so thank you for sharing with us.
