Fat Kitty…Cat

Magical meowing
in all corners
of Olympus
fell on deaf ears
as the young goddess
Alrica dismissed the sound
of a cat's mewling cries.
They came ever closer
to her ears...loudly...but
distracted, she ignored
all, except the niggling
conscience
which was talking to her
sternly as she planned
her quick escape.
Hermes came zooming
by, throwing her a flower
quickly, with a called-out
“helloooooooo” as he
zipped up the two hundred steps
to take his latest message
to Father Zeus.
She hated the restriction
“no human lover allowed”?
What a crock!
Didn’t her very father...Zeus
bear his own boy halfling…
Hercules, proudly in his arms
upon this very hill, born of a mortal?
Showing him off, until
his angry wife…
Hera threw lightning bolts
trying to kill the god/child?
She was in love! Didn’t that count
for something? Would they ever
understand? Parents!!
The meowing grew louder and louder
"is that a cat?" she thought
as she strode briskly
along to the rendezvous
to meet Cyrus…her very own
human... like no other…
Greek…he was, and
fine of form, dark curls brushing
his brown shoulders…the bluest
of eyes could have only come from
a god-gift bestowed to his parents.
Pondering, she slowly entered
the cave and came face to face with…
a fat pussy...cat! Guarding six kittens
splendorous white coat bristled
angrily as he bared sharp white teeth.
One horrified moment passed as Alrica
thought “No!” “They would not dare turn him
into a cat!!?” But she searched for hours
And never found her Cyrus….
ever again.
