He Holds the World


He has seen
the world with
many eyes,
through
countless tears
and wondrous sighs

Of all the visions
that those eyes beheld,
only one
caused hope
and hearts swelled
with eternal fear

a babe was born
and in his eyes
he holds the world
in thrall.

With wisdom in heart
he defied the game,
watched the world
suffering through
all the pains

and in his heart
he knew
what he must,
finally,
do.
