Jingle Hell

Jingle Hell

Ornaments twinkle
in the blinking colored lights,
merry tunes fill the air.
Salutations for this time of year
but there is no holiday cheer here.

Decorations are up
keeping pace with the season
but everyone is out
doing all their own things with their friends
one wonders when will it come to the end.

Stamp out childish glee!
Disappoints twitter here,
marring the joyful tunes.
It is all too clear, this is a chore
but Santa does not visit this door.

Sadly Jesus is missed
from holiday equations,
he's no longer worshipped.
Mankind is on the fast track to hell
Merry Christmas, I wish you all well.

Biography: Jacquii Cooke is a 32 year old Black Poet from Oak Ridge, Tennessee. As Webmistress of Poetry in Color Forum, she is devoted to the more abstract styles, especially those with a strong feminine voice that center around the topic of redemption and righting the wrongs of past transgressions.

hmmm - There was an interesting segment on the evening news. Apparently some Pentacostals have persuaded native Africans in Africa from voodoo or some such - And some reporter having seen the report called Christianity the big evangelical hit or some such... I scoffed and said "Nope. Just a billion dollar business."

Interesting poem MYSTY - Thanx for sharing and hope to have another commentary soon, as the title and the content of this piece really does deserve an interesting conversation.

Jacquii.

lol Thanks Benny and Ms Jacquii...... I was sitting at work ..... working on the cardigan I have been designing for my son, between calls...... and I was listening to some younger phone operaters on the other side of the row. How bitter some of them seemed. This poem came from that. It is not my personal view. I am like a big kid at Christmas. I love watching folks open gifts from me.

i love it when you can set em all up and smack the bejesus out of the reader with the truth. one would have thought it was a depressing poem, which it was to be honest, but not from the angle in which it ended up. its kind like faking a jab while bringing in the roundhouse. i liked it a lot. it also ended very well too. if 30 people were reading the last stanza together, i am sure you could hear a pin drop in the room afterward.

very nicely done.

Dear Mysty,

Very interesting contrast to your other poem. People will be sure to identify with this one as well. Straight and to the point with an ending that speaks volumes. Thank you for posting this one also. Blessings.
