SHE WROTE
She Wrote
She wrote
by candlelight
though it was dim
unsuccessfully quelling
pervasive darkness, even as
her notepad glowed pale and narrow
in the flickering flame
she wrote
though her hand trembled
arthritic and painful
slowly carving stubborn letters
into wisdom
remembering lessons
learned at her mama’s knee
she wrote
through war, then famine
guns stuttering sharply
dried bread and water
flinching and hungry
while her mind swirled
a solid cacaphony
a scream
trapped by ravages of time
and hurt
unending days spent healing
damaged soldiers
wrote themselves in stone
on her brain
an epitaph
she wrote
cathartic

wow.. i can sense the history in this...
and could definitly feel the endless need to express through your character here...
i am sure that such a person back then has had a chance to be truely seen for what she was worth
everyone has once recieved the respect that they truely deserve... but it doesnt always last like we wish it would...
well done hun!

I think this is a poets poem ... we write dont we ? thru pain , joy , suffering and fun .. we all write .. Im gonna take this out , frame it and place it on my bedside table so that im reminded that thru all in life whether i kan do anything or not i can write ....... i love this ..Chester

Jon...THANKS SO MUCH for your wonderful comment! The darkness I spoke of probably needed explanation...she was sitting in a darkened room because of wartime (in my mind) not a darkness of the soul or the psyche, although that could well have been there, but not for this strong lady! Thanks again and love...hope u are well.
