The Ugly Mans Wife
Battered, bashed and brused morally confused, hanging to invisable thread
spiritually, more than physically dead
The ugly mans wife, will be whole again or so she says
but with each chance of escape she refuses and stays
believes in the family, hopes its a phase
hopes and dreams shattered, self respect all tatered, none of the shit matters
but the children are safe!
The ugly mans wife so plots her assault
kill the dumb bastard its his own fucken fault
bitterness grows, insanity shows, the evil festers and grows
how it will end GOD only knows.
But are the kids really safe?
The ugly mans wife now battled and mared, from jails and hospitals no one unscared
so grows another out of seeds that are sown, acting, re-acting the way they were shown
Battles rage bitter, the loser the quiter, lifes in the shitter
Aint nobody safe!

Beautifully written! I read it out loud and could see all the battered women of the world who stay for their kids not understanding that those same children will turn out the same way. loved it.

When is comes to arbitrary misery of life, men and women are alike chewed by the teeth of destiny. Social scale disappears in private sphere and all of us are alone wondering the mangitude of our misery - big or small , big or small! Nice sociological grip and nailing, bitter sweet reality dose! I've seen this on the news, been affected by it through family and even endured some myself, in childhood and marriage. Battered partners stay in a relationship because of the children thinking them safe because the children aren't physically hurt but can't see the scars on the inside. Then the children become battered or batterers themselves. The circle remains unbroken.
You depict the circle so well through your words and I thank you for doing so. I made some suggestions, mostly with spelling and punctuation. I think it's fine otherwise.

What an explosive release of emotion, well said, with rhythm and style. I like how you phrase "The ugly man's wife." The poem discredits both parents, while focusing on issues we often overlook. I mean, who would want to believe the children where not safe?

Maybe raising kids alone most their life wasn't the worst thing. There were never adults fighting or anything else to worry about. It's just us trying to get by without much money - wishing we had more clothes, could go on vacation and such. Their both stubborn and not well disciplined, but maybe that's not worst thing. I have very little time left after working, cooking, cleaning, driving kids here and there, but I guess it's not that bad. We did Little League and ballet lessons for awhile, learned computer stuff. At least we don't have any scary issues to worry about.
