Unsaid

your eyes follow me
hauntingly speaking volumes
of words left unsaid
bitter shadows
of memories
left for eternity
here in my head

eyes brimming with tears
caused by pain
inflicted
by ones who could care a less
if you were alive or dead

eyes filled with pain
from a loneliness
brought about
by expectations
unfulfilled

sadness permeating
every thought
from you to me
longing
for freedom
to express
everything in your heart

eyes that no longer shine
but follow me from
the otherworldly realm
you crossed into....

Your eyes haunt me
speaking volumes of words
we both left unsaid.

Biography: Jacquii Cooke is a 32 year old Black Poet from Oak Ridge, Tennessee. As Webmistress of Poetry in Color Forum, she is devoted to the more abstract styles, especially those with a strong feminine voice that center around the topic of redemption and righting the wrongs of past transgressions.

Oh wow MYSTY - I'm almost speachless - this poem is as melancholy as Hans Zimmer's A Small Measure of Peace - but there's hope too that our eyes won't forever stay haunted with the unsaid - but that one day a unity of sorts will happen and destiny fulfilled will be the reality instead of simply the dream.

This poem is a very haunting piece no doubt - and if you click the link and hear Zimmer's tune - you'll see the uncanny resemblance. A perfect backdrop if you will... But yeah - a melancholy verse.......What inspired this poem if I may ask?

Thanx for the share.

Jacquii.

Mysty...this is one is so full of sadness and melancholic emotion that it tugs at the emotional psyche...causing the heart to be swept up right along with each wretched line.

hauntingly speaking volumes
eyes brimming with tears
sadness permeating
the otherworldly realm
speaking volumes of words

An absolute galaxy of hurt and pain, expectations unrealized...left unsaid.

Loved it!

This was my Mother's Life.... She taught me so much..... God knows I miss her dearly. Everyone else in my family saw my Mom in their dreams after she died.... 14 years later and I still have not dreamed about her. I wish I could just to see her one more time and know she is happy now.

Dear Mysty,

This poem with "All Along" read like a personal account, and I pray not, for you deserve the world Mysty. However, your word selection in your craft is so spot-on! This piece is haunting and also is lingering. One cannot forget such a piece as is all your poetry. As it has been said, your poetry goes straight to the heart and plays the strings. Your poetry, as well as this piece, is captivating, and one just falls into it so naturally. I wonder how many people have experienced this very poem. Each stanza stands alone as well. I already read this several times, and each time I take away more and more.Always beautifully written, flawlessly executed, and never to leave our minds, evoking emotion and etc. It is always a treat to read your poetry as I know I will be emotionally moved, learn a lesson, and simply captured. Love it! What was your inspiration for this?

Kim

Kim....... thank you for such kind words ..... my inspiration? I am not really sure ... I have been thinking a lot about my Mom lately. How my illnesses seem to be following the same path hers did. When she was not much older than I ..... her pancreas calcified. She almost died from this after several doctors misdiagnosed her. When they found out what had happened inside her..... she had dropped 75 lbs in less than 3 weeks, became skin and bone except for a small pot belly where blood was pooling inside her abdomen. She was bleeding internally at that point.

Well anyways I have been thinking so much about her....... and in the end all she had to communicate with were her eyes. All I had to do was look into them and I knew what she was thinking.

I went to the movies on Friday night .... saw Forbidden Kingdom and on the way home from it this line kept running through my mind " Your eyes follow me, hauntingly speaking volumes of words left unsaid." Well by the time I got home ...... they were haunting me .... these words that needed to be written. I know my Mom would love my poetry. She was always supportive of my writing even though I rarely shared it with her.

Anyways hon...... thank you so much for reading my work and always commenting so eloquently. I love reading your replies and they mean so much to me. Love you,

Mysty

Wow, this is such a beautiful poem right here... and so sad too. I could feel the emotion clearly with it as I was reading it and even know as I've finished reading it and have read the last line I want to read it again. This is so poigant and strong, compelling and moving. I've always had that fear of losing someone and not telling them something that I need to, or leaving something unsaid. I really feel for this poem and the words you use just add to the beauty of reading it. I'm very glad that I came across this and I still feel myself wanting to go back to it, and overall I found it a very powerful write. Thank you for sharing it!
