Icon19 Why must the Children suffer?

A Child is suffering, as I try to write this piece.
A little body twisted in pain, when will it cease?

No food fills their empty tummies, not one small crumb.
Their eyes are staring blankly, hoping someone will come.

A Child of tender years, holds on to his sister's hand.
He fears, a man will take this little babe from their land.

Why must the Children suffer? Why must they wait to die?
Their little bodies ache, no safe place for them to lie.

Many have no Mom or Dad to see them through the day.
No one to care for them, so together they must stay.

Why should the Children suffer? They watch, but do no harm.
Living like some animals, filled with fear, and alarm.

Their Chocolate skin, curly hair, dark brown eyes, so sad.
These Children should not live this way, it is very bad.

What can I do, here at home, what can I do for them.
Send money, where, for whom to share, I only can condemn.

They're not the only ones though, that suffer, for you see.
Too little surely is bad, but too much can also be.

Gives a Child a sense that it will always be that way.
They must know that life is more than taking and to play.

But, my heart goes out to those, who never had a chance.
To live and thrive, play and stay, in better circumstance.

I keep all Children in my Prayers, may God His Mercy show.
Let ugly times be in the past, Children left to grow.

Hey now mrsmajor,

A tender write. It is unfortunate, indeed, there is too much suffering going on in the world today. And if one really thinks about it there is absolutely no need of it - this is the twenty-first century. The accomplishments humanity has chalked up, the comforts that have been invented - yet there are people, children, still suffering from disease, malnutrition, the want for fresh water - just basic needs that we have taken for granted.
Very well written mrsmajor.........

Thank you so much for your review, I appreciate every word. You are so right, no need for it. The world has so much and yet it is not shared with those who need, as you say, the basics. I saw a picture the other day and it touched my heart, Children so innocent, wanting so little.
Thanks again for your review.

Yes I totally agree,
When I see those pictures, I wish I could bring the child here to live. What little I have to share would be so much to one of those children. Although, I'm sure they have parents whom love them. Rich or poor, we love our children.
But, it does seem ridiculous that people must live in such conditions in the 21st century.
I find war just as outrageous, I mean, it seems like people would realize a point in intelligence where killing each other seems like a stupid answer. Cave men needed to kill for survival. We shouldn’t have to kill in our time. We should all care about our planet and focus on creating a healthy atmosphere. I just don’t understand. All that money wasted on war could make this the shiniest planet in all of space and time.

Thank you so much for your review and comments, I coudn't agree with you more. what sense does it really make to kill each other...It is so sad though, that the children have to suffer, they have nothing to do with war.

I appreciate your comments, thanks again for your time.
