    Amused

My muse attends to other things
And does not know the thoughts she brings
Nor feels the lines of puppet strings
She works in me so gracefully

I cannot let her sense my plight
nor woo her with my love tonight
just dream that I can hold her tight
‘cuz she can’t know, I love her so.

If love like mine should cause her pain
or make her cry or feel insane
I’d cut those strings and not remain
Run far away, and make her stay.

Then maybe in some other time
I’d have her heart right next to mine
As words came forth to make each line
She’d work in me so gracefully.

Beautiful Jerry, as this is many emotions and components wrapped into one. I loved it, and understand this. Thank you for posting!

Very fine writing Jerry! The saddest love of all is what we can't have in this time and place, but:
