    At Arm's Length

    Suddenly
    the length of my arm
    is exactly the number
    of inches between us,
    minus one.
    Sometime
    when I was a fetus
    my fingers stopped growing
    just soon enough that I
    can't grasp you.
    Somehow
    the chain on your ankle
that leads to me, your ball,
    became so short that you
    are tripping.
    I swear I
    don't want to entomb you;
    I only seek a kiss
or just an, " I missed you"
    Nothing more.
    Instead,
there's the back of your head
    for the hours before bed.
    I can't be a fly on
    your cell wall.
    Surely
    it's not a life sentence,
and I'm not your penance, I'm
    not the lock on your door;
    I'm the key.

    In this write you said:

    Still you offered none to
    them in the write??

    Could be they need your
hand to guide them on how
to hold the key ( which seems
to be you), inserting keys in
holes has a feel to it and some
times ya gotta talk nice to it??
    :toot: :bravo:

    Thanks for the read.

    Dear Karen,

This was an intense read. As far as the art form, the layering here was incredible. I was intrigued by the title first, and was completely drawn in. The metaphors are extremely poignant, and I was moved by this piece. What was incredible to me was that along the way you actually built up to the solution in my opinion...in the ending. You must get the courage to take the key (you) and unlock the door, to hopefully happiness, and communication. I enjoyed this very much . Thank you for sharing.

Hi, I know I have read this before, it is one of those pieces that makes a place for itself in your head, (which can only be a good thing) I am still trying to work out those inches so I will be back for more... Padrik.
