    An aubade is a morning love poem or song -- as opposed to a serenade, which is in the evening -- welcoming or lamenting the arrival of the dawn. Merriam-Webster defines the aubade as "a song or instrumental composition concerning, accompanying, or evoking daybreak."

    John Donne's poem "The Sun Rising" is an example of the aubade in English:
