    Back In The Days

the scents that take me back to my childhood
shows innocence still inside my soul
my face hidden inside my jacket hood
flaunts my innocence, breaking the rules

my nose buried deep inside a book jacket
smelling the paper and ink, heavenly
until the slap of a ruler then sweat
dripping down my face, I glare sullenly

leave me to my peaceful dreams, the worlds found
in the pages of novels and books,
places I visited, came back around
time and time again, made me feel a crook

stealing other's lives to flaunt reality,
    losing my sense of connectivity
    back in the days...

Back in the Day's or back in my day's seems so long ago.
And there was a time that I wanted to relive those day's. But not so much now because of a lot of pain and cluelessness. But anyway one of the scents that take me back is that of bee's and honeysuckle. That scent or remembering that scent can take me right back into the day's. And I have to admit that there were some good old day's!

Ah = the joy of naivete... This poem has a bit of a melancholy vbye though :(
Seems the reflection may be a bit bitter sweet, but then again, I suppose a lot of memories and experiences from back in the day ARE bitter sweet ones. I suppose what we have to do is to make the future/upcoming days sweeter.

Nice write Mysty = thanks for the share ;)

the sense of smell is one the most articulate memory inducers known to man, more so than sights and or sounds, breathe deep and gather in the memories, thank you so much
