    Bedtime

The fields carry omens at this hour,

Pink ribbon of day fades, darker

Becomes the stalk, darker the highway.

    Silhouettes festoon the yard,

An imperial silence gives weight to evening,

Marble sky chipped by the axe of night.

I linger in shadows within shadows, restlessly

Folded over, my consciousness quakes in bed,

Hard to soothe the mind, hard to forget . . .

Hard to unclench the day’s events,

Tomorrow is a black sea without distinction,

Birds fly under shadows of planets.

Hey CHRISA - I like this poem - The detail is "crisp" if you will...

That's an interesting stanza -- seems to meld with the title "Bedtime" flawlessly -- But it leads me to wonder if your poem is about unnecessary death of some sort... "Black sea without distinction..."? That seems a little pessimistic to say the least LOL - I always like to think of tomorrow as "brilliant, light & gay..."

Possibly your poem is an omen of sorts, as stated in the very 1st line... Omen to what? Preytell

At anyrate - mysterious writing you've shared with us this evening - And it is written very well -- as is ALL of the works that you've shared with the Community!

    Thanx for the share.

    A fan,

    Jacquii.
