Wow - reading this again...and it simply breaks my heart. A portrait of man at his loneliest...If the pronoun was "she" - I'd almost swear this piece was inspired by me, my life not totally shrouded in the friendship of others. Anyway... This made for a lovely read again JONATHAN So thanks again for the share. This was a really beautifully somber piece of poetry.

    J.

Pain with a purpose. Indeed most poets would be honored to consider their most personal poetry as such. I know I do anyway. Yes it is an honorific.

    Hi Jonathan
I really enjoyed reading your poem. Not only did you capture that feeling of lonely sadness, but you created some great subtle images. I especially liked the lines
His shoes, his clothes one atop the other
like a messy hillock on the dark granite floor.

They stood out to me for some reason, anyways thank you for the poem.

women tend to be clean and neat in their ways and their is a certain homely charm to that and in comparison men tend to be a bit or a lot messier { not talking a bout the new age metrosexual man } however their is a certain method in that chaos and I just wanted it to reflect that .. funny thing is I live alone and I'm a bit of a slob however when I have a lot on my mind I tend to go on a cleaning spree which fr me helps with keeping the dark thoughts out.
