    Connection

    A thought came to me

    These words you read

    Are not poetry

    Just my narration

    Of the things

That I feel, think, experience, believe, and see

A glimpse into the womb of my mind

Where ideas arent always conceived immaculately

Because influence comes in many forms constantly

    Both internally and externally

But I share with you my mentality

As I remove my mask and strip naked

And allow you to see ME

    The pen acting as midwife

In my attempt to birth and give life to my thoughts

    And make them reality

    Living and breathing

    Constantly growing and changing

    Going through phases

    Just as you and me

    Because in all actuality

    Life is truly the poetry

    In motion

    Perpetuated by forces

    Seen and unseen

    Heard and unheard

    Felt and not felt

    New lines and concepts

    Are added continuously

    As life changes constantly

    Molding

    Weakening

    Breaking

    Rebuilding

    Strengthening

    and Shaping

    ME

And at times I am struck

    With moments of clarity

    Like the thought that

    I am you

    And you are me

    Everything is connected to everything

    So we are we

    A patchwork quilt

Made with different swatches of fabric

Of many different colors, patterns, and textures

    That look nice individually

    But sewn together

    Create a work of art

    That was crafted beautifully

    And masterfully

    See, life is about connection

    Of all things

    From mental

    To physical

    To spiritual

    The trinity of life

That exists in and around us

    But is often ignored

    Because somewhere between

    Our inception and conception

We lost our sense of connectivity

    Walking around

    In the ambiguity of individuality

Assuming that it is all about us personally

    Never stopping to notice

    The cause and effect

    Or the cause and affect

    That links us all non-physically

Yet we exchange vibes and energy

    Sometimes purposefully

    Sometimes inadvertently

Our eyes are wide shut usually

    Often too disconnected from self

    To appreciated the exchange

And the connection to our surroundings

But for a moment and all of a sudden

    I was wide awake

And I saw the world differently

    So I fight sleep mentally

    Staying conscious

    By attempting to wake you

    And make you think

    Provoking and evoking enlightenment

So that you can join me

    Because from where I stand

    It can get lonely

So I share myself with you

So you can get to know me

    And connect.

The words scribed here are very intense. The canvas was no enemy, as you painted an image as two become one, and the one is very strong. You did your thang! Loved it!!

Hey JUS - Yeah - I can certainly see this as a spoken word piece - A piece that is all for the uniting and unity through community. I can mostly see the audience vybing to this, as it seems almost a gospel:

    Because somewhere between
    Our inception and conception
We lost our sense of connectivity
    Walking around
    In the ambiguity of individuality

WHOA! Very nicely worded Poet! The unforced rhyme works really well with the rhythm of this piece. You certainly did your thang with this one!

    Thanx for sharing it!

    Jacquii.

I liked this poem very much. I liked how you described the creative process, the world of the poet and the mentality of creating something. That is, your poetic world. I thought the metaphor of childbirth was certainly brave in its way for a male poet - nothing shameful about it. I liked how you voiced how poetry should function naturally, orally, should be about the universality of humankind, a connective process. Very poignant in a world where we are often only thinking of ourselves and our own problems.

Also, I especially liked how as a poet you expressed how a diversity of influences constantly comes in.
"Where ideas arent always conceived immaculately
Because influence comes in many forms constantly
    Both internally and externally
But I share with you my mentality"

In my poetry I feel that sometimes I'm thinking that the poet's mind should be like an angel's, and that anything less is a failure. But obviously that's a fallacy and I fail and then get depressed because I don't have "the answers". Otherwise, I feel my poetry is more of a narrative to my life than anything else, like you. I felt like you voiced the whole process of creation in writing a poem, for me. It's a creative duality - being ("Molding
Weakening Breaking Rebuilding Strengthening and Shaping") - and does not have to be about what the meaning of life is or fixing things. Better to understand the process than claim powers of spiritual revelation or psychic abilities. Reading your poem will help me to pay more concentration to the energy/meanings of the words I impart. The power of poetry to connect us is a meaningful thing in today's world.

Keep writing about forces seen and unseen.

    Paul,

:bravo: Think you really took out the digger with this work, you dug deep and pulled up a diamond of truth. This work could be made into a dozen pieces and be just as meaningful. Here is what made the window of truth open for me:

    " Like the thought that

    I am you

    And you are me

    Everything is connected to everything

    So we are we

    A patchwork quilt

Made with different swatches of fabric

Of many different colors, patterns, and textures

    That look nice individually

    But sewn together

    Create a work of art

    That was crafted beautifully

    And masterfully"

    what a write thanks.
