I crammed the pencil in my mouth
    bit, chewed, and crunched.
    Wood slivers pierced my gums,
Graphite clung to my tongue, teeth black.

I coughed and spat on my notebook
ground pencil like an oat meal sneeze.
Blue lines bled into empty space.
Yellow paint chips yield my thoughts.

I banged my forehead on the notebook
mash adhered like a monster mask.
Tears and graphite ran down my cheeks.
I whaled, smeared, and rubbed my face.

I stared in the mirror, cleared my eyes
applied red lipstick out of lines.
    Wood chips weighted my lash.
I looked stupid, couldn’t believe it happened.

    Jolie,

That was totally WILD!!!!! I loved it...so descriptive, yet poetic, and definitely a classic. I have never read anything like that before!

This is exactly what I go through when I am given a topic in school to write for an essay.
There is indeed no frustration like writer's block. That, itself, has its own cateogry as far as Im concerned :)

i think that this only happens when we are forcing ourselves to come up with something.. i have had several "forced" poems... to me they sounded crappy... but then i wait a minute, and my muse comes about by whatever i am experiencing at that moment... and then i find the inspiration to write...
i think that you, Jolie, get frustrated just like me... or guilty.. however you want to put it... when you or I havent written anything for awhile... then we try to force ourselves to come up with soemthing.. but it's simply impossible to find inspiration when forced... inspiration comes to you.. not through our beck and call.. but when we least suspect it to...

i like this write very much.. because, it shows that you stopped and allowed your muse a minute to explore... and then this is what it came up with...

nothing else to say but pure sweetness!

    *smiles*

    phil

ps... very sorry not to have commented earlier on your works of art.. after all the time you spend reading me.. i feel guilty not to have thought about you.. thank you for understanding! :)

    Thank You,

PD - LOL yea, It was kind of wierd but fun.

Joy - writers block is frustrating. I don't let it get to me, I just write something rediculous and once in a while it turns out - at least I'm writing.

Mysty, I'm sure you've had those mornings waking up with yellow paint chips in your hair.

Blood, Thanks for the nice comments. I enjoy reading your poems. Not to worry, I know some of us are busy and don't have time to try to reply to all the poems.
