    I loved to sit on Grandma's lap.
    She gave me the very best hugs.
    A cuddle, a smile, and "I love you, Wouisy," --
    Four words I miss so much.

    I drove, one day, with an anguished soul.
    Parkinson's disease, the neurologist said.
    The future I dreamt of was now gone.
    No words could calm the panic I felt.

    Knowing what future could now be my own,
    I vowed with strength to fight this disease.
    Three weddings I plan to dance at some day;
    My granddaughters will be counting on me.

    "I need a hug!" I cried out to God --
    Impulsive words spurred by pain.
    A spirit appeared on the road just ahead.
    I thought, ‘Someone was listening to me.’

    Peace filled my soul as she entered the car;
    Familiar arms gently pulled me near.
    'I love you, Wouisy,' -- words felt, not heard.
    I was on Grandma's lap once again.

    Gail! What a beautiful write, and I don't doubt for a minute that this is a true story. I have seen too many miracles myself to have any doubts. Thank-you for sharing this with us!

    This brought tears to my eyes. I was very close to my grandmother and she died when I was 16. A few years later, I was in a large store and thought I saw a woman who looked exactly like her. The woman was a bit from where I was standing but I left my spot and ran to see her up closer. She had disapeared down an isle and I never did find her. I knew it wasn't my grandmother, just a woman shopping, very unaware of how she touched me that day. Your poem brought back those memories for me and I thank you so much for that. Great poem!

    This brought a tear to my eyes. I know what you're saying and seeing her doppleganger must've been a shock. I've never seen anyone close to Grandma but then she was one of a kind. Thank you for the kind review.

    I've often sensed someone looking over my shoulder as I'm on the computer or behind me at other times, but there's never anyone around at the time. I can only hope it's her keeping a watchful eye on me.

    Thanks sage! It was one of the harder ones to write. Not because the words wouldn't come but because they overflowed my computer and I couldn't type fast enough, lol. Also, the right sequence was hard to figure out and it read so rough I couldn't stand it, lol.
    Anyway, thanks sage!

    Thanks Abae. It was a bit hard to write. It couldn't decide if it wanted to be a poem or story but finally decided on poem. It's a true story though.
    hugs,

    Gail,
    What happened to your valentine poem? I wrote a reply to it and my computer crashed before it got sent. So the reply below is for it. I'll read this post after I send this.

    To make anything more out of this, you have your work cut out for you. If you intend to write more rhyme, make life easier and log on to the link below. These people sell an offline rhyming dictionary called Rhymesaurus. you can install it in your taskbar while you are working and use it any time you're stuck for a rhyming word. Good luck.

    Nomad, rolling thunder and Ralph T., I thought I'd written a reply to Nomad and thunder but must've had trouble with my computer cause I don't see it now.
    I want to thank you all for your comments. I feel humbled when I write something and it is well received.
    Ralph, my poem, A Valentine's Day Poem...Sort Of... is posted here.

    I've entered it in the contest I wrote it for and am waiting (not with bated breath, lol) to see if it has made the final five.
