    Haunted

She walked the lonely streets at night
feeling his presence call her name.
His scent was in the air she breathed
his taste lingered upon her tongue.
She saw his face behind closed eyelids
his touch never left her skin.
She tried to sleep at home each night
but he would not leave her alone.
She feels him each moment deep inside
    where desire speaks no shame,
and ecstasy had not long ago dwelt.
Every night begins and ends alike
yet when her arms reach out to pull him close
he vanishes like a snuffed out flame.

    Ah... Sandra,

    The feelings of want
    fumes out of this
    write is.

    The need for that
    somebody is some
    thing we all can and
    do recognize.

    That special moment
    when your own senses
    makes you remember.

    Drawing you to the
    brink of intimate flux.

    Thanks for the
    read. ;)

    Dear Sandra :giftrose:,

This was absolutely stunning! Such an alluring and beautifully lustful read! I love it! To think that someone had that much of a physically lingering memory, as well as an emotional etch is riveting. The senses awoken by just the "thought. The title is one of the best fit titles, I have ever seen for a poem. Ya know titles can be just as captivating as the contents of the poem. This is a classic example of that. I read this several times, included this in my favorites as well. I thought of the song called "Haunt Me" by Sade, when I read this. Mysty, you writing is one to behold, and I am truly always in awe of your poetry. It is mystifying, captivating, and crave-able. Thank you for the read.:bravothanx: I gave this poem an "Excellent" rating!

uve so well described here the intensity of a memory , the memory of love , so strong is that memory for the protagonist
that it plays over and over in her mind as if repeating those instances every moment , so well put into words that its like seeing this happen , seeing ure protagonist suffer the pangs of a love lost ... love this ..JON

    Love your title.
    I like these lines-

Every night begins and ends the alike
yet when her arms reach out to pull him close
he vanishes like a snuffed out flame.

Hiya Mysty! Oooohhhhhh, this one left me shivering, lookin' over my shoulder. Beautiful, sorrowful, mystical... A must-love! And the descriptions... How reminders of this elusive him are everywhere... Very skillfully done! Thanks for the share!

    Smiles!,

This is lovely. To want something so much and have it kept beyond reach is a pain to be admired.
