    Is This Heaven?

I am an old gray mare

you rode once upon a time,

    when I was young,

    full of vigor and health

    and we were like rabbits.

This body is now older, slower

    and less apt to meet

    my body's older, pesky demands.

    Oh to be young again,

to laugh and play and sing again,

    only happens in my dreams.

    What dreams they be

    of far off places,

    fantastical visions of beauty

I see. To smell and hear

    and taste explore there,

I am young and beginning again.

Flying on Dragons of every jewel colors

    wandering forests of crystals

    hanging heavily from trees.

    Trunks of trees so large

that homes are build in and about them

and that beautiful one there is mine.

Water is crystal clear and sparkling.

    falling from mountain crevices.

    Abundances of food ,fruit and

    vegetable of every sort.

Wine of the Gods that just

    seems to appear.

    Is this Heaven?

I deleted your previous post - You'll see the reason via PM. And yes - The forum is slow. Not much to be done about it unfortunately. However, feel free to share with me any promotional ideas you might have... I'd love to see JPiC busy as it was once. As for having quit posting... It seems that you are not the only one  --- Also - feel free to lead by example. Spread the poetic love around some and perhaps it will come right on back around to you ;)

Anyway - obviously I'm late to the party -it happens - I wear no clocks around my wrist. But better late than never I suppose...

I actually liked this poem - it's dreamy in a good way. The entire piece is written from the perspective of a horse? Nice concept - no wonder I'm so fond of horses - I wonder if they all think this way. Perhaps tis called the "joy of animal-naivete"

Anyway - thanks for the share.

    Jacquii.

Thanks MsJacquii. : ) and yes hubby and I are good. Sometimes we squabble like children lol but for the most part we still get along very well. Love changes throughout the years. Now we are in the mature phase of love I guess. Glad you liked the pics of my kitties. They are my joys. And the pleasure hubby gets from watching Tuxedo and Garfield play or how Hunni is growing and learning is so funny to see. He is like a new Dad again lol. The guys at his work tell him he needs to get a life lol. He tells them he needs grandchildren. Anyways I am off to bed. Exhausted. Seems I am low in Iron and Vitamin B12. Had my first V B12 shot this week and I am not sure I want another. It HURT like a son of a ...... you know... rhymes with itch but has a capital B. I think my doctor took pleasure in the fact it hurt me so much. Pain lasted for about 6 hours. Anyways Night night. Thanks for commenting.

    Luv Ya always,

    Mysty

Hi Mysty...glad to read you! I too, liked the perspective from the horse. The part that I quoted was the turning point for me, so raw, so real. So many people I am sure can relate to this. I also thought of all the different endings different people, with different experiences, would have. This piece could go in many directions. In this instance I am very happy that passion was found to ride again. Thank you for sharing Mysty.

I love this poem; I especially like how it turns around into a description of renewal and new beginning in the place where you fly on dragons and describe the bounty of the earth.

there's a great hopeful feel in this, but I love it when poems start out gritty tellingall, then end up divine

I agree. And this poem is really a testimony of what CAN be, as opposed to the harsh realities that ARE.
Optimistic is the word that comes to my mind.
