    It always
    Smelled like cinnamon
    A welcomed warm surprise,

    It always
    Smelled of nutmeg
    When grandma made her pies.

    Sweet sugared buns
    With frosted crumbs
    Floured prints upon her blouse,

    It always
    Smelled like cinnamon
    When we`d visit grandmas house.

    Autumn days
    Brought autumn nights
    Light harvest winds would whisp,

    And right behind
    her oven door
    The apple pies would crisp.

    Pumpkin patch
    in frosted dew
    Bring pleasures to the eyes.

    Yet it always
    Smelled like cinnamon
    When grandma made her pies.

    Dear Forestdawn,
OOOOooooo I want to go there, to Gradma's house, cause it always
smelled like cinnamon. Just the thought! What a special poem in tribute to Gradma, and those pies! I can only imagine. Oh, if I could only order two home-made apple pies, that are crisping behind her oven door. I think I am drooling now!! LOL!!

    And right behind
    her oven door
    The apple pies would crisp.

Oh that is such a beautifully delicious verse. You definitely were right about this poem. LOL!! Your poetry is 100% wholesome, rich, refreshing, feel good kind of poems. After a hard day's work, I should read a Forestdawn poem to poetically soothe the hecticness away, and slowly tranform into the calm, serene, wholesomness of your tranquil poems. A must read to lift ones spirits!!!!!;)

Oh boy, did that bring back some wonderful memories! Love the smooth flow of this piece and I especially liked the line about her "floured prints upon her blouse"! My Grandma's been gone a long time now but poems like this always bring her back to me - THANK-YOU!

Memories - YES Forestdawn you've brought back memories of Mama's kitchen ... This piece was just a lovely read - Mama (that's what all the children called my Grandmother) .... Anyway - she never was big on baking pies - But she made the best blackberry cobbler in town...

Anyway - It's nice to see that someone else has such poignant memories of Grandma's kitchen - Very nice read!

    Thanx for sharing FORESTDAWN!

    Jacquii.

    Greetings: Altree, and Jacquii:

Thank You. I have heard from so many of my readers that say that my poetry is like a breath of fresh air. or a cool drink of water on a hot day. I feel honored. (blushing)
I do love to write. I am a rhymer at heart, but occationally I`ll write in free verse or two.
I`m looking forward in reading and commenting on other writer`s work soon.
    Thanks again.

    Blessings
    Forestdawn
