    Melancholy Dreams

My head rest on my pillow,
    As the world drifts away,
Thoughts float gently in and out,
Much like a child at play,

    Someone calls my name aloud,
I turn to see who’s there,
    Enveloped in a pastel fog,
I do not seem to care,

    Time seems standing nearly still,
    While motion slows it’s pace,
Surreal as all about me seems,
    This unfamiliar place,

I wander in this dreamlike state,
    Collecting as I go,
    Fragments, pieces mental thoughts,
Just why, I do not know,

Each night I wander in my world,
    Of melancholy dreams,
    Searching for the answers to,
    My problems, so it seems,

Soon dawn will drive the fog away,
    To face reality,
    Tonight, another lonesome trip,
    To find the real me.

Insomnia? been there done that...but I must say I enjoyed the haziness and wondering of this piece, though there was no big revelation at the end...haha!

and of course, your impeccable rhyming and beat that's always well in place.

    Therese,

Thank you for reading and responding to Melancholy Dreams. I actually wrote this one from a photo I found on the internet. I do that fairly often. It was a hazy picture of a nude woman from the back side, standing in a fog of various pastel colors. But..... I do dream a lot and most of them would not make for good poetry. Rarely anything exciting.
    Again, thank you as always.

    Ron

    Dear Ron,

Although the place may be unfamiliar, the state of mind in this piece to me feels very familiar. Almost a haunting, hazy, subdued place where dreams partake of their owner. Where reality is suppressed, and the fog is to take on on a journey. I really loved this piece, as I felt very calm and with ease. Your rhyme and meter; always a delight and very aesthetic to read. Loved this very much!!!!! Thank you for sharing!!!!!

    Painted Diary,

While this dream does not reflect an actual dream of my own I do, it seems, have a lot of dreams where I am trying to get somewhere, uncertain of my destination and I always have trouble getting there. This in turn fills me with frustration. You know, when I think about it, it seems like that is the story of my life as well. Always trying to get somewhere, not knowing where it is I am trying to go and having trouble getting there. At least my dreams are better than my wife's. She is always having nightmares of being chased by monsters. Thanks PaintedDiary.
